Ok, I am well aware that it's supposed to be 10 on Tuesday, but yeah... we're just a bit busy this week!

10 things I've learned about John joining the Army

1. Naked tattoos are not allowed- so John's left arm needs a bikini :)
2. civilian HVAC technician translate into Army Utility Equipment Repairer (MOS # 91C)
   
3. It's not called boot camp anymore, it's Basic Combat Training (bct) and it's 9 weeks long.
4. John needs an ASVAB score of 50+ to be a 91C, and if he doesn't get the score the first time he can retake the test in a month
5. With 3 or more dependants, you need a waiver to join the Army
6. Advanced Individual Training (ait) for 91C is 11 weeks long
7. Overseas duty is NOT required
8. Minimum enlistment time for 91C is 3 years of active duty
9. Corgen is 100% onboard now that he knows John isn't going to be a front line soldier
10. Damek is still unsure & untill he decided he's ok with it, John isn't enlisting

Blog Train... Choo Choo

This has been a really crazy week for my house...

Merrick is mobile now (SCARY!). He know weighs about 18 pounds and is 27.5 inches tall. At almost 8 months (2 more days) he's sitting, crawling, pulling himself up, walking with assistance, has 2 teeth with 2 more breaking thru, is eating the Gerber puffy snacks, and he babbles "mum" & "momma" all the time.

DHS FINALLY finished processing my application, so the boys have insurance again. I'll be calling tomorrow to set up check-ups for all 3 of them. Merrick needs some shots & Damek may need 1 more before he can go to Pre-K in the fall. Corgen just needs a check-up cause he's a growing boy and he hasn't been to the doctor in over a year.

Corgen & Damek just got their summer haircuts... Daddy did too. Summer haircut in this house means NO hair! Corgen hasn't had is hair cut or shaved in about 2.5 to 3 years! It's kinda funny because he has a very noticeable tan line where his hair used to part- including around his double-crown.

Corgen graduates from Kindergarten TOMORROW!!! I'm so excited for him. He's grown SOOOO much since starting school. He's made some really good friends and we hope to be able to set up some play dates over the summer to keep in touch (since most of them live closer to the school than we do).

John lost his job a few weeks ago. We've both been out looking, but I swear this is the worst time of the year to be un-employed! All the high school kids started looking for summer jobs last month, so it's slim pickings for us. I have 2 leads to check on tomorrow.

I've been doing some work on my blog for Wonderland Tutus. I started making Tutus a few months ago & love it. I have no girls in need of Tutus, but I'm sure some of you reading this may. I'll be posting more sample pictures in the next few days.

I guess the last bit of big news is that John is seriously thinking about joining the Army. He's planning on going by the recruiters office after school today. It's exciting & a bit scary at the same time. I'd love to hear from some army wives about how life is around base & when you have to be apart. He's considering Utilities Equipment Repairer or Infantry as his Army careers, and would like to leave the option open for Officer's School a bit down the road.

Ten on Tuesday

Ok, so the prompt for today was "10 celebrities you're tired of"... but I don't follow that kind of stuff enough to really have that mental list. So new topic...

10 Things about Merrick
(since i don't talk about him enough)

1. Today he rode in a shopping cart without his car seat for the first time.
2. He stood up by himself yesterday for the first time. no picture for this one... :(
3. He now has 2 teeth completely broken through on the bottom, with the next 2 bottom teeth almost here... but he doesn't like to show off his teeth yet.
   
4. He can sit up by himself... and if he falls over he knows how to sit back up.
5. Fav foods are sweet potatoes, green beans & pear blueberry oatmeal... and mommy milk.
   
6. Is learning how to drink juice from a sippy cup... spills very little & loves it.
7. He looks just like his brothers did at this age
8. Eyes are still blue... keeping fingers crossed they stay that way.
9. He likes to crawl on the floor, but often gets frustrated that he doesn't move fast enough.
10. Says "Mum mum mum" all the time.

7 years!

Today's the day... my 7 year anniversary with John! It been a really bumpy ride... but so worth it!
We had hoped to be able to go see the new Star Trek movie, but it looks like we'll just be staying in to watch one of the old movies. The last one I watched was "Search for Spock". We have a tradition of watching either a Star Trek or Star Wars movie on our anniversary... it started with going to see Star Wars Episode 2 the day after we got married.

Merrick's been sick. He's cutting teeth- the two front bottom teeth have broken thru the gum. He doesn't much want to show them off right now. So our days are spent watching & re-watching "My friends Tigger & Pooh", "Dragon Tales", and a few other cartoons... snuggling, nursing, and just enjoying each other's company. I always find it funny how attached our children are to Mom when they are sick... but I enjoy the closeness with them.
